Attract and retain tenants by adding electric vehicle (EV) chargers to your property

The Multifamily Charger Assistance Program provides financial incentives to multifamily property owners for the installation of EV chargers. Tenants want to drive EVs, but often don’t have chargers available on site. EV chargers can help you retain your tenants and attract new tenants to fill vacancies.

Incentives Available

Participants may receive incentives for eligible costs incurred while installing qualifying EV charging equipment at eligible multifamily properties with 4 or more units on a first come first serve basis, so long as funds are available. See the Terms and Conditions for Program requirements, eligible properties, eligible costs, and equipment specification details.

Equipment Type	Incentive	Applicable Cap*
Level 1 or Level 2 Outlet	$2,000 per outlet	Up to $50,000 per eligible property or 100% of total project costs, whichever is less
Level 2 Charging Station	$5,000 per port	Up to $50,000 per eligible property or 100% of total project costs, whichever is less
Main Panel Upgrade	$5,000 per panel	Up to $5,000 per eligible property or 100% of total project costs, whichever is less. 4+ ports required.

* Maximum Program Incentives available per eligible property: $55,000

Download, fill out, and sign the Multifamily Charger Assistance Program application linked below and email the completed form to askprograms@sanjoseca.gov. SJCE will respond with a Determination of Incentive Funds status within 5 business days.
